Dhulikhel Hospital is located in Dhulikhel Municipality, headquarter of the Kavre district. It has a population of about fourteen thousand and Kavre district has the population of about 1.6 million people. It is situated 1650 meters above sea level and 30 Km Northeast of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Dhulikhel is famous for its breathtaking scenic beauty and pleasant climate.

Dhulikhel Hospital is an independent, not for profit, non-government institution which was conceived and supported by the Dhulikhel community, as a quality health services provider. The hospital was inaugurated by the late king HM Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev in 1996, as a collaborative project of the Municipality of Dhulikhel, NepaliMed International and Dhulikhel Health Service Association.




Kathmandu University, School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) is an autonomous, independent academic institution established in collaboration between Kathmandu University and Dhulikhel Hospital.

KUSMS launched its own constituent MBBS program in August 2001. The school has infrastructure and physical facilities at two locations: Basic sciences building at a hilltop at Chaukot, Panauti Municipality-1 and the main teaching hospital is situated at Dhulikhel. Both locations are in close access to the Kathmandu University Complex.

Response of Dhulikhel Hospital to EQ-2015

DH has started conducting outbreak prevention and management surveillance project. So far, DH is carrying out water sample testing in various communities of different outreach centers. Water sample testing has been completed in Baluwa, Bhaunepati and Dhading outreach centers . A total of 32 sample were tested, out of which 15 samples were from Baluwa , 8 from Bhaunepati and 9 from Dhading. In Baluwa, the water source that provides clean drinking water to 150 families of that area was found to be contaminated with faecal coli . In response to this result , DH team carried out water purification as an intervention and provided Piyush to 150 families. The water source was chlorinated and awareness program on Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) was carried out in the area.
