Physiotherapy in Women’s Health


Physiotherapy in Women’s Health identifies the problems associated with pregnancy, child birth, post-partum, breastfeeding and menopause. The physiotherapy management basically deals with pelvic floor muscle issues and pelvic pain.
Uterine prolapse is a major public health problem in rural Nepal. It is a medical and social problem, deeply rooted with poor health services and socio-cultural beliefs. To overcome and  prevent the problems, Dhulikhel Hospital is providing the physiotherapy services for antenatal and postnatal women. We provide antenatal classes to educate pregnant women about the pregnancy, pregnancy related problems and delivery for one hour in a group session in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
Antenatal services:
Pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PRPGP or Pelvic Instability)
Pregnancy-related back or neck pain
Coccyx pain and injury
Abdominal muscle separation (Diastasis Recti)
Rib pain
Carpal tunnel syndrome and wrist pain
Weak pelvic floor muscles
Urinary incontinence
Postnatal services for prevention of problems like:
Fecal/ Urinary incontinence
Breast feeding techniques.
Postural corrections
Pain associated after the delivery
Pre and Post-operative Physiotherapy management for:
Prolapse, continence sling, hysterectomy or prostatectomy
