Department of Ophthalmology (EYE)

Ophthalmology department, established in 2004, has been providing highest quality eye care services for the entire range of vision and eye problems in all age groups of patients through its outpatient and inpatient services equipped with modern diagnostic and operating facilities. We have well trained ophthalmologists, optometrists, ophthalmic assistants and opticians who are dedicated in patient care, research and education.

Out Patient Services

Through its daily outpatient services it provides high quality service in vision assessment, refraction, orthoptic treatment, in-house glasses and contact lens dispensing services along with treatment of anterior and posterior segment diseases. We have also started orthoptic clinic in our OPD for headache, squint and other binocular single vision related problems.

Emergency Services

Department is providing 24 hours emergency services for the patients.

Operative Services

Cataract surgery including phacoemulsification surgery
Lid and oculoplastics surgeries like dacryocystectomy, dacryocystorhinostomy, ectropion and entropion correction, ptosis correction, blepharoplasty, lid tumour surgeries, lid reconstruction surgeries, anterior segment surgeries, etc. along with all types of minor eye surgeries.

Community Services

Regular screening of eye diseases in various camps and outreach centers of the Hospital are organized at regular basis by the department. Surgical camps are also organized regularly by the department in collaboration with the community department along with health education about eye diseases to the primary health workers.

Subspecialty Services

We provide treatment and expert advice on different neurophthalmological cases which are referred from other eye hospitals. We also have been delivering medical and surgical treatment services for variety of Oculoplastics cases.

Academic Activities

Regular teaching and learning activities are conducted for various academic programs run under KUSMS including MBBS, BSc Nursing, BPT and BNS.

Future Plan

To start medical retinal services soon concentrating on the treatment of different retinopathies and maculopathies, along with the retinal lasers and intravitreal treatment for retinal and macular pathologies.
To establish Low vision clinic.
