A multidisciplinary Pelvic Floor Center dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of pelvic floor disorders was inaugurated under the Department of Gynecology at Dhulikhel Hospital in a joint ceremony by renowned Australian obstetrician and gynecologist Prof. Dr. Raymond Peter Hudson, Dhulikhel Hospital founder Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, and President of the Nepal Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (NESOG) Prof. Dr. Padam Raj Pant.
The pelvic floor refers to the group of muscles located within the pelvis and around the female reproductive organs. With aging or due to other factors, these muscles may weaken or become lax, leading to conditions such as uterine prolapse, urinary or fecal incontinence, passage of gas unintentionally, chronic lower abdominal or pelvic pain, and sexual dysfunction. The center has been established to support the prevention, diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment of these conditions.
As treatment will be provided through the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team including urogynecologists, colorectal surgeons, urologists, physiotherapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, all individuals affected by such problems are warmly encouraged to seek timely evaluation and treatment at the center.
