Pharmacy

Dhulikhel Hospital has own pharmacy at the beginning, 1996. Pharmacy department is located within hospital premises. It provides outpatients services till mid 1997 with one pharmacist and one supporting staff. Hospital started in-patient wards services as well as inpatient ward supply system after 1997. Department has upgraded regularly. Since 1999 the department started to prepare certain extemporaneous medicines for patients. Along with dispensing the drugs it also provide proper patient counselling on medication and its indications to aid compliance. A new pharmacy block was opened in November 2009.

The department has other activities such as

Organizational: Pharmacy has organized drug and therapeutic committee (DTC) in hospital. It has vital role to deliver informative notes related to drugs. List of drugs are published in 2009. It contain name of drug used in hospital with content and dosage form.

Drug information center (DIC): was established in 2000. It provides information about drugs to doctors, nurses, medical students and paramedicals.

Patient care: For inpatient as well as outpatient, Hospital has its own pharmacy in hospital premises and run by hospital itself. It provides all required medicines for patients as their prescription. Counseling for the patient regarding proper use of medication is also provided. Also few floor stocks in OT, Emergency and Wards are maintained.
Extemporaneous preparation unit is also available for compounding more than 20 medicines to external use only & Most of products are ordered of several departments.

  • Salicylic acid 5%,10%,20% and 40%

  • 25% dextrose in glycerin
  • Sodium bicarbonate ear drops

Orthopedic department:

  • Malish for muscle relaxation.
